I love this bag! I’ve only been carrying it about a week, but it’s a keeper. The leather is soft but not floppy (it keeps its shape). The handles do fold over when it’s not being used but I’m okay with that. The large exterior pocket is nicely sized—I keep my keys, phone and work ID badge there. The inside of the bag is just an open space, so I have different items in smaller pouches to keep myself organized and to prevent having to dig around for things. It’s real leather so it smells wonderful!
One thing I wish it had were feet on the bottom when I have to place it on the floor. But other bags I looked at didn’t have feet either so maybe that’s not the trend right now?

I LOVE this bag!! It’s simple yet beautiful, classic and chic. I don’t think it will ever go out of style. The leather looks high quality – doesn’t look cheap at all. I’m hoping it develops that soft lived-in look over time. Right now it’s very “new” looking. It’s pretty large too – along with a wallet and some cosmetics, I can easily fit a water bottle, small sweater and my iPad. I love the straps that give me the option to wear it crossbody or on the shoulder. Love the front pocket to easily put my phone and chapstick in. Highly recommend.

I already had this bag in English Saddle (and love it!) and have been wanting it in black so I jumped at the chance to get another one on sale for nearly 50% off! It is a very simple design but I reach for this bag pretty much every single day! Perfect size, casual enough for running errands on weekends yet nice enough to carry to the office as well. I use a sturdy bag insert that provides more organization, protects the leather from spills/pen leaks, and helps maintain the upright tote shape that I prefer. Although I love my Madewell bags, I wouldn’t and never have paid full price for any of them and would recommend shopping around during holiday sales for the best bargains.

Very nice. Perfect size. soft leather. Well made. Perfect strap options. I just wish it had a magnet snap closure since I tend to toss my purse around quite a bit in the car, etc.

I love the simple lines & size of this bag. The only thing I didn’t care for was the narrow width of the crossbody strap, it looks a little cheap to me. I had a wider black leather strap that matched so I replaced it & now it looks great & I think is a better fit & look for the bag.

Very cute bag, but the arm holes are too small. It’s almost impossible to slide on with even a light jacket.

I’ve had this purse in english saddle for a year now & wear it daily, I still love it as much as I did a year ago. The leather is soft, but still holds its structure. If worn cross body, the strap hits me right below my rib cage at it’s shortest point & right at my hip bone at it’s longest point [5′ – 100lbs]. It’s showing some minimum wear on the bottom corners [no tears/rips, but the leather has lightened], but otherwise the bag looks in great condition for me using it so much and not being that gentle with it. The inside zippered pocket is quite large [7″x7″] and is perfect for important items like my wallet/keys. The front pocket is good for small trinkets or flat items like papers or thin notebooks as it’ll just gape open if you stick something too bulky in there.

What a great bag. I watched a ton of reviews on YouTube and took a chance. So glad I did. So much bigger than I thought and so perfect!!!! I love it. Ordered the black first and then ordered the English Saddle color a few days later.

I read a lot of reviews before buying this. I wanted a crossbody style that wasn’t too small or bulky. This fits my wallet, cosmetics bag, sunglasses, keys and all the extra stuff that goes with having a toddler. The color, English saddle matches a lot of my wardrobe. I am taller, so I was concerned the strap might be too short but it sits at a great height and doesn’t hang too low. It doesn’t flop forward when I bend down to deal with my son

Mmmmm…yeah……I really wanted to love this bag. I really did. In fact, I was so on board, I bought two colors. But after a couple of days of looking at it, I just realized it wasn’t for me. I don’t know was it the shape, the size…I don’t carry a boat load of things but for whatever reason, I couldn’t get on board. I think I might be more of an east/west tote girl rather than a north/south or even square-shape. Plus buying them online was a little tricky, especially with the English Saddle as I wasn’t a fan of the leather on my particular bag (I have seen many in store and some are great and some not-so-great). There was some greyish shading wasn’t crazy about, the leather was wrinkled in random spots I wasn’t crazy about. And finally, I wasn’t a fan of the strap length. I just thought it best that if I didn’t LOVE the bag, I shouldn’t keep it/them. So back they went. I might consider just getting the regular transport tote. I do have their canvas transport tote in ‘acorn’ and I die – that is one of my favorites.

Love this bag. Leather is supple and smells wonderful. Nice exterior pocket and zipped interior pocket. Wish it had a zip or magnetic closure but that’s the only drawback as far as I’m concerned.

Its a large bag which is what I wanted… the leather is nice, though it could be more supple, and the straps could be bit wider for comfort on shoulders, since we fill these so full! Also It could have been lined. I LOVE the big pocket on the outside m. Overall it is an excellent value for the price!

A little too meh and small for me. Description says lined interior, but there is no lining, and it does not mention the hardware is gold (which is hard to see in the product photos, too). Also, the price tag on the inside of the bag says $158, but Zappos’ price was $168. Returning.
